I had an account with Capital One. The debt became a write off and a collection agency named OSI picked up the debt. In February, OSI offered me a settlement - pay 7,500 of a 19,000 loan, which I did. Today, I received a letter from a new law firm indicating Capital One is attempting to collect the remaining $12,000 with their agency. How is this possible? What actions should I take?
